Born and raised in Hawai’i, I first came to New York City to attend Pratt Institute. After getting my BA degree in Fashion Design, I started my fashion career in New York and I have been fortunate to work in a field that allows me to use my creative energy for more than 25 years.

But in 2002 I was diagnosed with cancer and my world changed. Facing and surviving cancer is a life-altering experience and I was determined to make every moment count. I wanted to do things I always wanted to do. So I took a jewelry making class at The Creative Center for People with Cancer and that was the beginning of my new life and Liane By Design.

Each piece in my collection is created with joy and love for life, nature and the people in my life. Each piece represents my hopes for the future.

From the ashes of cancer, I have found a new creative passion, a budding career and a renewed appreciation for all the joys life can bring. In life anything is possible--go out there and get it!
